Wide Bay Batteries stock and supply VRLA gel deep cycle batteries throughout Maryborough, Hervey Bay, Bundaberg and Gympie, our Fusion batteries are completely sealed, spill proof, leak proof and can be used on their sides or even upside down. This is due to the electrolyte being suspended in a gel like paste, additional benefits with gel deep cycle batteries include greater vibration resistance, shock resistance and greater tolerances to extreme weather.
So what's the difference between an AGM and a deep cycle battery?
In short, a gel battery is better suited to regular deep discharging (DoD). However, gel deep cycle batteries are less suitable for cold climates or frequent shallow discharges or for use in starting applications. AGM batteries are better suited for cold climates, high current or high power applications, and superior for dual purpose uses. For instance as a starting battery with moderate to high accessory power requirements. AGM batteries are, by design, typically twice the cycle life of conventional flooded batteries. Gel batteries have up to 3 times the cycle life of AGM batteries when used in the correct application.
